On Saturday, June 2, 2012,\u00a025 members from the Chicago District gathered for its fifth annual Join Hands Day event at the Edward Hines, Jr. VA Hospital.\u00a0<\/p>\n
The members spent the afternoon with approximately 31 of the resident Veterans playing several rounds of bingo games.\u00a0 The Veterans were playing for a chance to win\u00a0a portion of the available $500 commissary coupons given out as prizes.\u00a0 To make the playing field fair, each of the\u00a0Veterans received an initial gift of $1 in coupons, and later on in the session, those who had not yet been lucky enough to win a game, received another $5 in coupons.\u00a0 A grand prize game of \u201ccover your entire card\u201d was played and the lucky\u00a0Veteran won $50 in commissary coupons.\u00a0<\/p>\n
District President Mary Therese Tylus stated, \u201cThis was so far the largest turnout of Veterans and members to come together for this event since its inception.\u00a0 Both the\u00a0Veterans and members had a wonderful time enjoying each others\u2019 company.\u201d<\/p>\n
It truly was an afternoon of fun for all and a great way for our members to say thanks to these Veterans who have given so much for our American freedom.<\/p>\n
