The Honorary Consul of the Slovak Republic of Chicago, Rosemary Macko Wisnosky and Benedictine University in Lisle, Illinois played host to H. E. Du\u0161an \u010caplovi\u010d, DrSc., Minister of Education, Science, Research and Sport of the Slovak Republic on May 21, 2014.<\/p>\n

Accompanying Dr. \u010caplovi\u010d from Slovakia, were members of his cabinet, including Karol Mi\u010dieta, Ph.D., Rector of Comenius University in Bratislava and Ladislav Mirossay, Rector of Pavol Jozef Safarik University in Ko\u0161ice. Dr. \u010caplovi\u010d was in Chicago to deliver a keynote address at the Chicago ICE 2014 \u2013 International Conference on Education. He met with Benedictine President William J. Carroll, Ph.D. and other members of the Lisle, Illinois University\u2019s leadership team to discuss future educational opportunities between the Benedictine faculty members and students and those from various Universities in the Slovak Republic. Benedictine University’s founding was by the original Monks of St. Procopius Abbey sent from St. Vincent Archabbey in Latrobe, Pennsylvania more than 125 years ago to Chicago with the mission of educating the children of Czech and Slovak immigrant families.<\/p>\n

After this meeting at a reception in his honor, Dr. \u010caplovi\u010d met with various local Slovak professionals and educators who had received an invitation from the Chicago Honorary Consul or from the University. \"FCSLA<\/a>Representing the First Catholic Slovak Ladies Association were Jeanette Palanca, National Court of Appeals\/S258 Officer, Mary Therese Tylus, Chicago District President\/S485 Officer, Lorraine Gibas, Chicago District Recording Secretary\/S421 Officer, Carol Rosenthal Chicago District Treasurer\/S421 Officer, Jarmila Hlubocky, Chicago District Financial Secretary\/S295 Officer, and Dr. Fay Hlubocky, Chicago District Auditor\/S295 Officer.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
