Anna Hurban District of Chicago Hosts St. Anne’s Day Celebration

The Anna Hurban District of Chicago hosted the St. Anne’s Day Celebration on July 26, 2018, with both the mass and luncheon held at the Orland Chateau. Mass was celebrated by the Chicago District Chaplain, Fr. John Jamnicky (S485), retired priest from the Archdiocese of Chicago, with Chicago District Member Cameron Palanca (J174) serving as altar server, Mary Therese Tylus (S485) and Therese Gibas (S421) as Eucharistic Ministers, violinist Tom Bajek (S287), cantor, Jennifer Reusz (S258) and St. Francis of Assisi Parish music director, Leanne Stoterau Hahn. During mass, Fr. Jamnicky blessed a statue of St. Anne which was donated by the Chicago District President, Lorraine Gibas and her family. The statue will be used at all future Chicago District functions.

Prior to mass, FCSLA members from the Chicago District, Okres Helen Kocan (Lake County, IN/Joliet IL), the Louise M. Yash District (WI) and members of the PWA began the celebration with rolls and coffee. Immediately after mass, a luncheon was held for the 125 attendees with greetings sent by our National President, Cynthia Maleski, a cash prize raffle, basket raffle, and centerpiece raffle.

A huge thank you to all of the Chicago District and Branch Officers and members who shared their time and talents, including Judy Knizner (S287) for decorating the altar, Emily Minelli (S287) for creating the centerpieces, and many others who fulfilled various roles during mass and coordinated the luncheon and raffles. Without your time and talents, this event would not have been such a success!

All who attended had a wonderful time and are looking forward to next year’s celebration, which will be hosted by the Louise M. Yash District in Wisconsin.
