Following a two-year break due to the pandemic, the FCSLA Chicago District held its annual scholarship luncheon at Camelot Banquets in Hickory Hills, IL, on June 18th, 2022. Scholarship winners and their families were invited to share lunch with District branches to celebrate their academic success.
The program began with welcome and prayer by Lorraine Gibas, District President, and Fay Hlubocky, District Vice President. The scholarship winners were then invited up individually and introduced to the group. The Chicago District Board members presented each winner with a certificate, pin, bag, and white rose, and invited them to sign the FCSLA Chicago District Scholarship Book before returning to their families. Lunch was then enjoyed by all as branches and members had fun catching up after two years of being apart.
After the luncheon, the District held its first in-person business meeting in 2 years. Participation was strong and plans for future district events were presented and finalized. Everyone appreciated how good it was to be together in person again with our fraternal family and celebrate our scholarship winners and plans for the future.
