On Tuesday July 26, 2023, the Chicago District hosted both the Indiana & Wisconsin Districts for their annual combined St Anne’s Day Celebration. The feast day activities began with a warm welcome by Chicago District President Lorraine Gibas who greeted all in attendance including Indiana’s President Lillian Zaborske and Wisconsin President Pat Braun.
Immediately afterwards, the Mass was celebrated by Reverend Joseph Mol who was assisted by Deacon Joseph Stalcup and the cantor and pianist Andy Perz with violinist Thomas Bajek from Branch S287. Rev. Mol’s homily centered on peace in the world, in our organization and in our homes.
After the beautiful Mass, attendees enjoyed a traditional Slavic/ Slovak feast of mushroom soup, breaded pork, chicken, beef, dumplings, sauerkraut, and vegetables. Next, via videoconferencing, FCSLA President Cynthia Maleski addressed attendees on this celebratory day sharing her fraternal hopes and wishes. At the day’s end all attendees participated in a raffle.
A special thanks to the Chicago District Board, Judy Knizner for Mass arrangement, and most importantly to all attendees for your participation and for honoring our patroness, St Anne.
